John Rhys-Davies is First Guest for LOTR Event!

John really wanted to come to this event as he says he never get the chance to talk to everyone at a signing event and really loves talking to the fans about the films he has been a part of; he is so looking forward to hanging out with you over this weekend and getting to know you all .
John Rhys Davies appeared in all of the Lord of the Rings movies playing the part of the dwarf “Gimli”. The durin’s folk dwarf, Gimli, joined Frodo on the quest to destroy the one ring. Despite his initial distaste for Legolas (not to mention a long-standing dispute between the two races) the elf and dwarf became friends during their journey. In John’s portrayal of the character, Gimli was somewhat of a comic relief throughout the movies easing the dramatic pace.

Rhys-Davies is an acclaimed British actor that has appeared in a number of television series and movies. Aside from his role as Gimli, he will also be recognised for his appearances as ‘Sallah’ in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981) and “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” (1989). His television roles include ‘Prof. Maximilian Arturo’ for 40 episodes in “Sliders”, ‘Agent Michael Malone’ for 15 episodes in “The Untouchables”, and a lead role in the 2005 mini-series “Revelations” as ‘Professor Lampley’. Other appearances include fantasy series “Legend of the Seeker” and sci-fi “Star Trek: Voyager”.
